SOFTBALL: Daily Ballers Steamroll State Department Employees, Look Good Doin’ It

The Daily Ballers squared off against a team of State Department employees on Monday, and they did NOT know what they were getting themselves into.

“What’s The Daily Caller, a gym?” one of our opponents asked before the game.

Our response:

In all fairness, the sleeve monster had attacked several key Ballers prior to Monday’s matchup — not to mention the fact that daddy blasted arms over the weekend — and the guns were glistening across the board. Still, if the State Dept. thought pretending they didn’t know who we were would somehow throw us off our game, they were wrong.

Though the game technically should have been a forfeit — as the other team was short players — we opted to also play a man down, posting 11 runs in the process. Let’s review the highlights:

1) Howley and Weaver both had impressive days at the plate. I’m pretty sure you can count the number of times they’ve gotten out this year on one hand.

2) I hit yet another towering — and I mean TOWERING — home run, bringing my season total to 10. #TaterSalad

3) Intern Andrew Kadar made arguably the catch of the year in center field. We don’t have video, but it basically looked like this:

There’s only two weeks left until the playoffs, so strap yourselves in. It’s gonna be a bumpy ride, y’all.

I mean, for the other teams in the league.

We’ll be fine.
