Louisiana Republican Sen. Bill Cassidy has earned a guest appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” Monday night after praising the late night show host for speaking out about affordable healthcare ahead of the vote to repeal Obamacare last week.

During his monologue on Monday of last week, Kimmel revealed that his newborn baby had to undergo open-heart surgery after being born with a heart condition. His emotional monologue had a message as Kimmel used his experience with his son as a plea to politicians before they cast their votes on the repeal of Obamacare.

“If your baby is going to die and it doesn’t have to, it shouldn’t matter how much money you make,” he said. “I think that’s something that whether you’re a Republican or a Democrat or something else, we all agree on that, right?”

The Louisiana Republican echoed Kimmel’s plea when discussing the potential repeal of the Affordable Care Act on CNN Friday.

“I ask does it pass the Jimmy Kimmel test,” Cassidy said. “Would the child born with a congenital heart disease be able to get everything she or he would need in the first year of life? I want it to pass the Jimmy Kimmel test.”

“So simple answer: I want to make sure folks get the care they need,” he added.

After days of talking about the “Jimmy Kimmel test,” the late night show host has invited Cassidy to join him on his show Monday night.
