Republican Michigan Rep. Justin Amash tweeted shortly after the firing of James Comey Tuesday that his congressional staff is working on establishing an independent commission to investigate US-Russia collusion.
Amash’s tweet read, “My staff and I are reviewing legislation to establish an independent commission on Russia.”
My staff and I are reviewing legislation to establish an independent commission on Russia. The second paragraph of this letter is bizarre. https://t.co/wXeDtVIQiP

The Michigan congressman’s tweet shared President Trump’s letter dismissing FBI Director Comey and called the second paragraph “bizarre.”
In the second paragraph, Trump writes, “While I greatly appreciate you informing me, on three separate occasions, that I am not under investigation, I nevertheless concur with the judgment of the Department of Justice that you are not able to affectively lead the bureau.”
Amash’s call for an independent investigation into US ties to Russia echo similar pleas made by Democrats.
