Last year, Donald Trump Jr. met with Russian lawyer Natalia Veselnitskaya in the hopes of receiving damaging information on Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton. According to his emails, Trump Jr. was told that Veselnitskaya was a Russian government lawyer.

But now the Russian lawyer is speaking up, and she wants to clear up what she believes is “mass hysteria” over the meeting.

“I’m ready to clarify the situation behind this mass hysteria,” she reportedly stated in an interview with Russia’s RT TV channel late Tuesday. “But only through lawyers or testifying in the Senate.”

Veselnitskaya has claimed before that she is a private lawyer, with no ties to the Kremlin and with no damaging information on Clinton.

In a statement to the New York Times, she claimed that “nothing at all about the Presidential election” was discussed with Trump Jr. Veselnitskaya stated she had not “discussed any of these matters with any representative of the Russian government” and had “never acted on behalf of the Russian government.”

Trump Jr. expressed that the lawyer “had no meaningful information.”

“Her statements were vague, ambiguous and made no sense,” he proclaimed in his statement released on Twitter. “It became clear to me that this was the true agenda all along and that the claims of potentially helpful information were a pretext for the meeting.”
