A Georgia officer saved a 29-day-old newborn baby from dying after performing life-saving CPR.
Officer William Eng, 46, of the Savannah-Chatham Metropolitan Police Department saved the newborn in distress, Bella Adkins, who was choking and unresponsive, according to her mother Tina Adkins.
“I didn’t know if it was a seizure, if she was throwing up or what was going on,” Adkins told ABC News on Monday. “I panicked.”
Eng sped up three flights of stairs at an apartment building on Friday night to respond to the emergency call, reported the New York Post.
“I just thank God for him. Without him, she may not have been here today, so I thank God for him,” Adkins told the Post.
The officer’s body cam shows Adkins holding her baby and hysterically crying, then Eng performs CPR on the child.

“It feels great but it’s part of my job,” Eng said according to WSB-TV. “It’s why I wanted to become a police officer in the first place — to make a difference and save lives. I just took a deep breath and did what I was trained to do.”
