A YouGov study recently found that only 66 percent of adults between the ages of 18 and 24 “have always believed the world is round,” in results posted on Twitter Friday.
In the study conducted of 8,512 adults on February 6, 2018, the survey found that a surprising portion of people between the ages of 18-24 and 25-34, which encompasses the group known as millennials, aren’t one hundred percent sure the earth is round. Of those polled, 26 percent of them said they are in the category of “other/not sure.”

The study revealed that a total of 84 percent of those polled “have always believed the world was round.” But 5 percent of those surveyed said they fall into the category of have “always thought the world is round, but more recently I am skeptical/have doubts.”
To break the poll down further, 9 percent of those in the age group of 18-24 fall into the category of “I always thought the world is flat, but more recently I am skeptical/have doubts” or “I have always believed the world is flat.”
In the age group of 25-34, 7 percent said they “always thought the world is round, but more recently I am skeptical/have doubts.” While another 7 percent said that they thought the earth “is flat, but more recently I am skeptical/have doubts” or “have always believed the world is flat.”
The study also found a link between those people who believed the earth was flat and spirituality, with 52 percent of “flat earthers” considering themselves “very religious” compared to 20 percent of all Americans.
