Republican Rep. Darrell Issa called Peter Strzok a “bad guy” on Fox & Friends” Friday, while discussing his Congressional testimony about possible political bias within the FBI.
Issa said it’s already known how nefarious Strzok is and believes he shouldn’t be given the opportunity to smear President Donald Trump while trying to vindicate Hillary Clinton. (RELATED: House Judiciary Chair Opens Strzok Hearings With A Bang: ‘No One Is Above The Law’)
“Well, this is what yesterday’s hearing was about. We already know that Peter Strzok is a bad guy,” Issa said. “We understand that he’s not going to be at the center of investigations where he can both clear Hillary Clinton and try to indict President Trump again. But, there are other people embedded there.”
Issa also called out critics who say messages between Strzok and FBI lawyer Lisa Page should be considered private, by reminding them they were sent on federally funded cell phones.
“Let’s not forget, Lisa Page, they talk about it being private. This was a Department of Justice versus an FBI individual using their federally funded phones,” Issa added. “And that’s the only reason we know about it is that these kinds of things were going on on official phones that were discoverable.”
Strzok also admitted to disparaging Trump and sending politically charged messages on his private person phone as well, according to Issa.
“Yesterday, what you saw with Peter Strzok is that he admitted that he has similar texts which he’s never made available on his personal phone,” he concluded.
