Alabama quarterback Jalen Hurts doesn’t sound like he’s too eager to discuss the topic of potentially transferring.

In fact, it sounds like he might not be transferring at all, which is a change of pace from what we’ve all heard ever since Tua Tagovailoa began dominating for the Crimson Tide.

“I’ve never said anything about transferring. Those words have never came out of my mouth. Those have always been kind of assumptions. If I haven’t spoken about it, I don’t think it’s a conversation to be had,” Hurts said when the topic of leaving Alabama was brought up Thursday(RELATED: The College Football Playoff Begins Saturday. He also added that his focus is on Oklahoma, and he’ll have to see “what’s up next” for him.

I didn’t expect him to say that at all. I understand the focus being on Oklahoma, but you could tell by his body language, he wasn’t happy at all by the transfer talk.

Of course, I can’t say that I blame him. He’s had to deal with it all year, but it’s the way he talked about the topic that made it seem like he might not leave.

I think I speak for pretty much everybody when I say it seemed like a done deal.

After all, why would Jalen hang around if he wasn’t going to get a ton of reps? There are more than 100 schools who would gladly enlist his services on the football field.

Then again, maybe he’s okay with taking a backseat and just being a part of the ride. I don’t see Jalen as much of an NFL prospect at quarterback. He might not see it either.

All I know for sure is that Hurts’ play in the SEC title game this year was nothing short of spectacular when he entered the game for an injured Tua.

It was awesome, and at the very least he’ll always have that with him.
