Ian Rapoport Discusses Ezekiel Elliott’s Contract Situation With The Cowboys
It sounds like the Dallas Cowboys might soon have a sticky contract situation on their hands.
Ian Rapoport said the following during a Saturday appearance on the NFL Network:
He, in fact, would like a new deal this season. As far as the holdout goes, we’ll see how much the Cowboys make this a priority. Locking up DeMarcus Lawrence, their star pass rusher, that is the first. After that, the Cowboys have a big list of players they’d like to pay. We will see if Zeke and Dak are at the top of the list or if they’ll maybe kind of have to use some of that power a little bit to get their deals.

Well, Elliott may not like where he finds himself if the Cowboys pay Lawrence first and then Prescott. That probably wouldn’t leave a ton of money on the table left to go around.
Everybody likes to get paid, but there’s only so much money to go around. If you read into Rapoport’s comments just a little bit, it sounds like there’s a very real possibility that Elliott holds out if he doesn’t get the money he wants.
Given what I just said above, don’t be surprised if the former Ohio State star isn’t happy with how much money the Cowboys have to give him. If that happens, the Cowboys could be in serious trouble. No team gets better when their star player doesn’t suit up.

Things are always exciting whenever Jerry Jones is involved, and I have a feeling this situation might get out of control pretty quickly.
Imagine if Le’Veon Bell sits out one season and then that’s followed by Elliott not playing. Have two star running backs ever not played in back-to-back seasons? I don’t think so.
As always, the NFL never disappoints.
