Robert Downey Jr.’s exact pay for his “Avengers” films may be unknown to the public, but it’s believed to be absurdly high.

The Hollywood Reporter reported the following Tuesday:

Meanwhile, the face of the franchise, Robert Downey Jr. — Iron Man himself since 2008 — had negotiated a unique financial arrangement with studio chief Kevin Feige that over the years resulted in massive paydays for the actor. Downey receives backend from the Avengers movies: Multiple knowledgeable sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the actor likely walked away from 2018’s Infinity War, which grossed more than $2 billion, with at least $75 million. Even in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming, he received $5 million a day for three days’ work.

It’s worth noting in the headline of the THR piece, it’s stated his deal “tops” the payroll for “Avengers: Endgame.” (SLIDESHOW: These Are The Hottest Women On Instagram)

It’s never been a secret Downey was getting himself paid, but the idea that he could bank at least $150 million thanks to two movies is downright absurd. I’m really at a loss for words.

He’s making more cash for a single movie than most films cost to produce and market. Of course, the man is absurdly talented. I can’t blame him for wanting to get paid. (RELATED: One Movie Is Expected To Obliterate The Box Office. The Numbers Are Huge)

The star actor has been the face of the film saga ever since “Iron Man” was released.

It’ll be interesting to see what Downey does going forward. He’s made more than enough cash to last him several lifetimes. The last thing he probably needs to worry about is a paycheck.

That means he’ll probably be free to pursue passion projects for a long time. Should be fun to see what he ends up doing.

There’s no doubt he’s one of the most talented men in the whole game, and he certainly demands a salary to reflect that fact.
