Arizona Cardinals GM Steve Keim isn’t putting a ton of stock into quarterback Kyler Murray’s wishes for the NFL draft.

Murray was the first overall pick in the 2019 draft, and had a very good rookie season for the Cardinals. Apparently, he just wants the offense to load up once Arizona starts picking at number eight April 23.

Keim told the following to Bob McManaman about what Murray wants, according to ProFootballTalk:

[He’s] lobbied for CeeDee Lamb. He’s lobbied for four or five offensive linemen, a running back and a tight end. He hasn’t once said anything to me about a defensive player, so I’m not sure he’s a guy I’m going to hang my hat on when it comes to draft day.

I mean, you can’t ding Murray for wanting the offense to load up. You can’t blame him at all. The man went first overall, got off to a hot start, and he just wants to be surrounded by more help. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)

What’s the point of being a franchise quarterback if you don’t have the best weapons available? It’s Murray’s job to score points, and he should lobby for any help he can get.

At the same time, Keim’s responsibility is to put together a complete and total team. That’s what he has to be focused on, and it sounds like he is.

The team still has to be able to win if something were to happen to Murray. If the offense falls apart, then the defense has to show up and show out.

That can’t happen if every pick is spent satisfying Murray’s needs on offense.

No matter what the Cardinals do, they’re trending in the correct direction, and that’s good news for fans.
