Kansas coaches Les Miles and Bill Self will take pay cuts during the coronavirus pandemic.
According to Jesse Newell, Self and Miles are both taking 10% reductions during the ongoing crisis. Athletic director Jeff Long will also take a 10% pay cut. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
KU Athletics announces Bill Self, Les Miles and Jeff Long will all take 10% pay reductions starting May 1. Will last 6 months. This will save the athletic department an estimated $500,000.

These are without a doubt two of the biggest names in all of sports to take a pay cut during the coronavirus pandemic.
Bill Self is a top-five coach in all of college basketball and he had the Jayhawks rolling before coronavirus shut the season down.

Les Miles is a national champion, coached at LSU in the SEC and is slowly but surely turning the Kansas football program around.
He was a genius hiring decision by the school. Yet, both men are giving up part of their salaries during a time of uncertainty.

Obviously, I’m sure they’ll both be able to still eat, but it’s a sign of the times. When the most important people on a campus start giving up part of their salary, then you know things are serious.

They weren’t the first, and I’m sure they won’t be the last men in the world of sports to take pay cuts. It’s truly a brutal time.
