Actress Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli reportedly left their exclusive country club because they didn’t “feel welcomed.”

The couple allegedly faced backlash from members of the club after changing their plea to guilty in their college admissions case, according to a report published Sunday by People magazine.

“The club has been an important part of their social life for a long time,” the source reportedly told People. “They didn’t want to resign, but also felt they didn’t want to be a part of drama and hostility. They were upset about it but felt like they had no choice. They didn’t feel welcomed.”

The couple is accused of paying $500,000 in bribes in order to confirm their daughters’ admission into the University of Southern California.

“People have been very critical about their actions,” the source added. “The backlash has been intense. They have been members of the country club for many years. Their current house even overlooks the golf course. Many of their friends are members as well.” (RELATED: Lori Loughlin, Mossimo Giannulli Decide To Plead Guilty In College Admissions Scandal)

The backlash comes after the Board of Directors voted unanimously to suspend the couple from the country club, but with the option for Loughlin and Giannulli to be reinstated after serving their prison terms.

Loughlin and Giannulli changed their pleas to guilty on May 22.

As previously reported, Loughlin will serve two months in prison, pay a $150,000 fine, undergo two years of supervised release and must complete 100 hours of community service. Giannulli will serve five months in prison, pay a $250,000 fine, undergo two years of supervised release and complete 250 hours of community service, the U.S. Attorney’s Office of Massachusetts said.
