The creator of “The Dick Van Dyke Show” and comedy legend Carl Reiner passed away Monday.
Carl died from natural causes, Variety confirmed with his assistant Judy Nagy. He was 98 years old at the time of his death.

The comedian’s son, Rob Reiner, shared the news on his Twitter account Tuesday morning.
“Last night my dad passed away,” Rob wrote. “As I write this my heart is hurting. He was my guiding light.”

Carl was also known for his work in “It’s A Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World,” “The Russians Are Coming, The Russians Are Coming” and the “Ocean’s” series.

George Clooney called Carl’s comedy “effortless” in a statement to Variety.
“Carl Reiner made every room he walked into funnier, smarter, kinder,” he told the outlet. “It all seemed so effortless. What an incredible gift he gave us all. His was a life well lived and we’re all the better for it. Rest in peace my friend.”
