NFL teams are expected to have smaller training camp rosters than usual ahead of the 2020 season.
According to Adam Schefter, teams might go as low as 75 training camp players instead of the usual 90 players each NFL team brings to camp. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
The decision to trim the rosters is being made to “combat” coronavirus.
In an effort to combat COVID-19, NFL teams are likely to bring fewer than the regular 90 players they ordinarily bring to training camp, per league sources. One source is predicting 80 per team, another 75, but no one is expecting 90. More coming up on https://t.co/rDZaVFhcDQ.

This honestly sucks for guys trying to fight their way onto an NFL roster. There’s nothing we love more than a great underdog story.
Every single season, there are a few guys who sign onto training camp rosters, work insanely hard, blow the coaches away and find themselves on the 53-man roster. A guy like Shea Patterson is someone I think could fit this mold in 2020.

However, that can’t happen if NFL teams decide they’re not going to bring a full 90 guys to training camp.
Fringe NFL players crushing it in camp and the preseason is one of the best parts about the NFL. You don’t see stuff like that in the NBA very often.
Yet it happens all the time in the NFL, and now it looks like we’re going to see it a lot less in 2020.

This is just the latest example of how coronavirus has royally screwed up sports. Honestly, it just sucks for all the players who won’t get a shot, and there’s no other way to put it.
