It sounds like Wisconsin quarterback Graham Mertz should be cleared in time to play against Michigan.
The superstar redshirt freshman quarterback tested positive for coronavirus following his five touchdown performance against Illinois. He is now required to sit for 21 days. (RELATED: David Hookstead Is The True King In The North When It Comes To College Football)
This is where things get really interesting. That game against Illinois took place last Friday night. While the school hasn’t confirmed when Mertz’s first positive coronavirus test took place, it’s been reported by the Milwaukee Sentinel that it happened the next day on Saturday.
According to Adam Rittenberg, if that holds true, then Mertz will be cleared to play Michigan November 14 in Ann Arbor.

– Longer quarantine is to rule out heart issues and give players time to catch up conditioning wise to prevent injury
– The 21-day clock starts from first positive test, so if Mertz tested Saturday, could return for Michigan on 11/14

With the game against Nebraska scheduled for Saturday not happening at all because of a coronavirus outbreak within the team, the Badgers will only have to play Purdue without Mertz slinging the rock.
Am I confident we can beat Purdue with Danny Vanden Boom playing quarterback? I am. Will it be tough? Probably, but we should be fine.
All things considered, only having one game without Mertz is a hell of a break for the Badgers, especially when it initially looked like we’d have to play Michigan with Vanden Boom.
