Joy Behar suggested on Tuesday’s “The View” that First Lady Melania Trump was either “an active co-conspirator” or she feared President Donald Trump.

After making it clear that she was ready to wash her hands of the president and the First Lady, Behar questioned whether Melania Trump had been acting on her own accord or saying things that she knew wouldn’t anger her husband. Cohost Whoopi Goldberg began by asking Behar what she thought of the first lady’s farewell speech.

“Well let me just first off say I will miss these two like I miss pms and hot flashes,” Behar replied. “Okay, good-bye, don’t let the door hit you. So that’s number one.”

Referring to Melania as “a very interesting case,” Behar noted that her favorability as she prepared to leave the White House was less than that of the last Republican First Lady, Laura Bush.

“The question is, is she as bad as Trump? That’s what people want to know. Is she’s an active co-conspirator? Does she agree with him? Or is she under duress, I don’t know. Is she afraid of him?” Behar asked then, noting that Trump had turned his ire on Attorney General William Barr and numerous others.

“Maybe she’s afraid of him. Maybe she’s afraid of being ostracized, and then where would she go,” Behar continued, referring to the outgoing First Lady as a “birther” and asking whether she had come up with that on her own or been told to say it.

Behar concluded by saying that Melania Trump was likely to be remembered for her “I really don’t care, do you?” jacket and the changes she made to the White House Rose Garden.

“That’s deplorable. I hope Jill Biden gets a florist to help her,” Behar said.
