Parkland school shooting survivor David Hogg on Friday called for Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene to apologize to families of mass shooting victims who have a “permanently empty bedroom.”
Hogg appeared on CNN’s “New Day” and was asked by host Alisyn Camerota about Republican Georgia Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene’s Thursday apology speech, in which she said she knew “the fear” that David Hogg felt during his school shooting as she described her own experience with gun violence when she was in school. “The ultimate thing is, I don’t really care. The thing I care most about in this situation isn’t so much myself, but it’s the real people that she offended, which are the families in Parkland, and Las Vegas, and Sandy Hook that have a permanently empty bedroom, that have a permanently empty place at the dinner table,” Hogg responded. “They are the people that are the real victims here that deserve the apology. Not me.”
Greene was seen in a recently surfaced video accosting Hogg on the streets of Washington, D.C. over his stance on gun control. She has previously questioned whether the shootings at Parkland in 2018, Las Vegas in 2017, and Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012 were “false flag” events, and has expressed support for other conspiracy theories. In her Thursday speech, she clarified that her views no longer reflect those conspiracies, and stated that “school shootings are absolutely real.”
Hogg continued, saying that those families “had the worst possible thing in the world happen to them” and reiterated that they were the ones that “deserve an apology.”
Camerota followed by noting that Hogg told Greene on Twitter that she was not the victim. She then asked, “Is that how she’s trying to paint herself?”

“I think so. I think they are trying to paint themselves as the victim to play like they are the little guys, so they can raise millions of dollars as they have talked about, or thousands of dollars as they’ve talked about wanting to raise,” Hogg responded.
“And it’s just pathetic because they are not the victim here. As I said, the victims are the families of children that have died in Sandy Hook and Parkland and, you know, the people that died — as well, adults that died in those places, and at Las Vegas, of course” Hogg continued. “They are the ones that need to be talked about.”
Hogg then called on people to sign a petition calling for Greene’s resignation from Congress.
