A new Project Veritas video appears to show a CNN technical director describing how the network’s “focus was to get [former President Donald] Trump out of office.”

An individual Project Veritas alleges to be CNN technical director Charlie Chester is seen in the video discussing the network’s “propaganda” story lines regarding Trump’s health. Chester also appeared to describe how CNN framed President Joe Biden “as a young geriatric,” adding that he believes the network helped the president “through this term.”

“We were creating a story there that we didn’t know anything about. That’s what – I think that’s propaganda, you know?” Chester is seen saying according to Project Veritas. “Trump was, I don’t know, like his hand was shaking or whatever I think. We brought in like, so many medical people to like all tell a story that, like, it was all speculation – that he was like neurologically damaged, that he was losing it. He’s unfit to, you know, whatever. We were … creating a story there that we didn’t know anything about, you know?”

“Our focus was to get Trump out of office, right? Without saying it, that’s what it was. Right?” he added in another portion of the video.

The alleged CNN technical director is also seen expressing his opinion on the network’s role the 2020 election. (RELATED: ‘White Supremacy Hour’: Project Veritas Releases Alleged Internal CNN Conversations Criticizing Tucker, Trump)

“I am a hundred percent gonna say it. And I a hundred percent believe it that if it wasn’t for CNN, I don’t know that Trump would have got voted out,” he says in the video.

One industry expert told the Daily Caller that a “technical director” at a news organization typically has very little insight into how networks operate editorially. Technical directors focus on the control room and are in charge of technical aspects — sound, lighting, camera work — surrounding shows.

Another industry expert with experience producing TV echoed those comments, adding that it wouldn’t be standard for a technical director to attend a show’s editorial meetings. This expert noted that a technical director could very well overhear comments made from those on the editorial side and may witness part of the process, but likely wouldn’t have significant insight or input on editorial decisions.

Project Veritas’ video also shows Chester describing what’s next for CNN. According to the video, the network plans to focus “mainly on climate” and will promote “climate change awareness.”

CNN did not immediately respond to a request for comment from the Daily Caller.
