The co-anchors of MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” called out Democratic New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy on Tuesday for enforcing the indoor mask mandate despite new Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidelines.

“New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy says it’s too soon drop his state’s indoor public mask rules,” co-anchor Mika Brzezinski said. “New Jersey will continue to require all people – vaccinated or not – to keep wearing masks indoors in public, making it the only state in the northeast not to adopt the new CDC mask guidance.” (RELATED: ‘You’re Such A D**k’: New Jersey Gov Confronted Eating Maskless Outside With His Family)

The CDC updated its mask mandate last Thursday, stating that vaccinated Americans no longer need to wear masks indoors or outdoors.

“Follow the science,” co-anchor Joe Scarborough said. “If we’re telling governors to follow the CDC for a year when Donald Trump is president of the United States, shouldn’t they follow the CDC guidance when Joe Biden is president of the United States?”

Co-anchor Willie Geist called it a “curious move” by Murphy who “stands alone,” no longer working with Democratic New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo or Democratic Connecticut Gov. Ned Lamont. Geist also said that about 70% of adults in New Jersey have received at least one dose of the vaccine.

“Good luck getting people to wear masks through Memorial Day weekend at the Jersey Shore,” Geist said. “I just think this isn’t going to hold up.”
