Former Democratic Hawaii Rep. Tulsi Gabbard said President Joe Biden’s rhetoric is worse than that of former presidential candidate Hillary Clinton in a tweet Wednesday.
Gabbard made these comments on Twitter following the speech Biden delivered on election laws Tuesday in Georgia. Gabbard included a short clip of Biden’s speech in her post.
“I will defend the right to vote our democracy against all enemies, foreign, and yes, domestic,” Biden said. “The consequential moments in history, they present a choice. Do you want to be the side, on the side of Dr. King or George Wallace? Do you want to be on the side of John Lewis or Bull Connor? Do you want to be on the side of Abraham Lincoln or Jefferson Davis? This is the moment to decide, to defend our elections, to defend our democracy.”

Gabbard reacted, saying Biden’s rhetoric went “further” than Clinton’s now famous “basket of deplorables” comment from the 2016 election. (RELATED: DANIEL: To Biden, ‘Unity’ Means Crushing All Dissent)
“[He] call[ed] those disagree with his actions and policies domestic enemies, traitors, and racists,” Gabbard wrote. “Biden promised to unite us, but he is doing all he can do to divide us.”
Gabbard isn’t the only one who had some harsh words for the president. A coalition of voting rights groups in Georgia, including Black Voters Matter, said they need “more action” rather than “even more photo ops,” CNN reported.
When Biden took office as president in Jan. 2021, he said would be a “president for all Americans” and would “fight as hard for those who didn’t support [him] as those who did.”
