It sounds like Progressive isn’t interested in capitalizing off of Baker Mayfield’s trade to the Panthers.

The Cleveland Browns traded the former first overall pick to the Panthers in return for a late draft pick, and for those of you hoping he’d start dropping new ads for the insurance company, you’re in for some disappointment! Scott Fowler reported that there are “no new Baker Mayfield//Progressive ads forthcoming from Panthers’ stadium,” and the quarterback called it a “missed opportunity.”

Is anyone surprised that Progressive isn’t super interested in dropping new ads with Mayfield? I’m sure they’re not cutting ties in case he blows up, but Mayfield’s stock has never been lower.

He went from being the first overall pick in the draft as a Heisman winner out of Oklahoma to being traded for a late draft pick. If that’s not a fall from grace, I don’t know what is.

It makes perfect sense for Progressive to hit the brakes for a bit and wait to see if Mayfield can even win the starting job before filming more ads.

Imagine if they started airing ads and he ends up being QB2 behind Sam Darnold. That’d be embarrassing as all hell.

Hopefully, Mayfield is able to salvage his career, but until he does, there’s no rush on his marketing abilities!
