The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s office officially charged famous rapper A$AP Rocky on Monday in relation to a 2021 shooting.

A$AP Rocky is facing two counts of assault with a semiautomatic firearm after months of investigation into the incident, according to TMZ. The charges stem from the November altercation with his former friend that unfolded on the streets of Hollywood and resulted in the eruption of gunfire, TMZ reported.

It is alleged that an A$AP Mob member, known to fans as A$AP Relli, was summoned to the location by A$AP Rocky, and the two reportedly exchanged words. When the conversation between the two former friends became heated, it reportedly escalated to the point that A$AP Rocky fired multiple shots, and wounded A$AP Relli, according to TMZ.

After months of maintaining anonymity, A$AP Relli was recently revealed as the victim of the incident.  The former A$AP Mob member claims to have sustained injuries to his hand after being hit with bullet fragments during this incident, according to TMZ. He claims he was unable to work with his injury and has filed a lawsuit against A$AP Rocky, demanding financial compensation for emotional distress and lost income, the outlet reported. A$AP Rocky was arrested for the alleged shooting when he got off his private jet in LAX in April, after vacationing with his then-pregnant girlfriend, Rihanna. Police obtained a warrant to search A$AP Rocky’s home and did locate a number of firearms inside his residence, however they were all properly registered, and the gun connected to this particular incident was not located, according to TMZ.
