A U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officer died after a second officer accidentally shot him at a Florida agency weapons shooting range Wednesday, according to reports.
The bullet hit Jorge Arias in the chest during training at the Trail Glades Range, located at 17601 SW 8 Street in Miami-Dade County, according to the release. Arias, a firearms instructor, was working at the range when he was shot on-duty, according to a press release reviewed by the Daily Caller. Police did not release the name of the second officer involved.
Miami-Dade Fire Rescue responded and airlifted the officer to the nearest trauma center, where medical professionals pronounced him dead, according to the release.

The Miami-Dade Police Department Homicide Bureau and the Miccosukee Police Department are conducting an investigation into the incident, the release reported. (RELATED: Border Patrol Agent Killed While On Duty In Texas)
Arias’ wife, Ana Mary, remembered her high school sweetheart as someone who was always around to assist those in need, according to Local10 News.
“He was always there to help everybody who needed it,” Ana Mary Arias told the outlet. “Everybody who needed it, family or not, and he was big on his family of law enforcement. He came from a small family and he always told me that he was part of a big family. It is his law enforcement family.”
“I have no words for the loss,” Ana Mary continued. “When you hear people say that he was a great guy, believe it.”
