Shoutout to Virginia!

It’s crazy to think that we’re already approaching the end of June, with Fourth of July right around the corner. Just the other day, it felt like we were putting the Christmas stuff away and gearing up for the New Year. Now, we’re preparing to celebrate America’s 247th birthday.

To mark the occasion, personal finance website WalletHub has conducted a report titled “2023’s Most Patriotic States in America.” To get this data, WalletHub compared all 50 states using 13 key indicators of patriotism. The indicators ranged from states’ military enlistees and veterans to the share of adults who voted in the 2020 presidential election, to AmeriCorps volunteers per capita.

Here are the most patriotic states in America, according to WalletHub’s study:

  1. Virginia
  2. Montana
  3. Alaska
  4. North Dakota
  5. Maine
  6. Vermont
  7. Oregon
  8. Colorado
  9. Wyoming
  10. New Hampshire
  11. Hawaii
  12. Maryland
  13. Washington
  14. Iowa
  15. Delaware
  16. South Dakota
  17. Utah
  18. Idaho
  19. Kansas
  20. Arizona

As a lot of you already know, I’m originally from Virginia, so I couldn’t help but to have a little bit of pride here.

Though I’m a bit curious as a current Florida man, where on earth is the Sunshine State?

I’m surprised that Florida didn’t make the list, just because driving across the state like I do, I’m always seeing American flags hung up at people’s houses. Heck, if you go to South Beach in Miami, they actually sell Trump merchandise in shops. And despite how you feel about Trump, the fact that it’s politically-related shows that even the 3-0-5 has some patriotic pride. But regardless, shoutout to my home state of Virginia!
