During the Thursday night opener for the NFL season, the Detroit Lions shocked the nation with an upset victory over the Kansas City Chiefs, edging out last year’s Super Bowl champions 21-20. And one Chiefs wide receiver is shouldering the lion’s share of the blame.

Kadarius Toney had an abysmal night, dropping four of five passes thrown to him, according to ESPN, and Twitter users are not letting him forget it.

Some of the drops were passes that star quarterback Patrick Mahomes delivered right into his hands. One of those drops even led to a pick-six that allowed the Lions to tie the game in the third quarter.

Toney’s only catch of the night went for exactly one yard.

As of Friday morning, “Toney” was still trending on Twitter as users from across the NFL world roasted him for his performance during the much-hyped season opener. (RELATED: Thank The Heavens! The NFL Is Back! Andrew Powell Makes His 2023 Season Predictions And Week 1 Picks)

One fantasy football reporter said Toney’s week one performance may go down as the “worst performance any skill player has all season.”

The Chiefs will get to sit this weekend out and regroup, with their next game being against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday, Sept. 17.
