Former President Donald Trump torched the Biden administration’s transfer of $6 billion in exchange for five American hostages in Iran on Monday.

Secretary of State Anthony Blinken signed a blanket waiver last week for $6 billion in seized Iranian assets to be transferred from South Korea to Qatar, the country responsible for giving the funds back to Iran. Five Iranian prisoners will be released along with the “ransom” payment in exchange for five American prisoners. “So, let’s get this straight,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “We did a hostage TRADE with Iran. We gave them 5 very tough, smart people that they desperately wanted. We likewise got back 5 people BUT, we also gave them 6 BILLION DOLLARS! How much of a kickback does Crooked Joe Biden get? Does anyone realize how much 6 billion dollars is?”

“When I was President, I got back 58 hostages for ZERO money. Remember Pastor Brunson? It sets a TERRIBLE precedent. Republicans, call out the 25th Amendment, NOW! Biden is INCOMPETENT,” Trump wrote.

The hostage deal moved forward on the 22nd anniversary of the September 11th terror attacks. Biden is the first president to break tradition by not visiting a traditional location, such as a site of the attacks, to commemorate victims. Instead, Biden stopped in Anchorage, Alaska, to deliver remarks after attending the G20 in India.

This is not the first time Trump spoke out against the hostage deal. In August, the former president reacted to reports of the agreement by comparing it to “when Obama sent the Iranian regime pallets of cash for hostages in the dark of night.” He predicted that the deal will “stoke violence, bloodshed, and mayhem throughout the Middle East.”
