Former NASCAR star Kevin Harvick purchased the suburban Charlotte, North Carolina, estate that appeared in the 2006 film “Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby,” the Charlotte Business Journal reported Tuesday.
Harvick and his wife DeLana bought the estate for $6.75 million at the end of October, according to the Charlotte Business Journal. The 12,000-plus-foot waterfront mansion located in a gated community in southern North Carolina will have plenty of room for the dozens of trophies Harvick won during his long NASCAR career, FOX 25 reported.
In February, the residence was listed for $9.9 million, nearly a $6 million increase over its selling price in 2018, according to FOX 25. The residence has six bedrooms, nine bathrooms, a 1.31-acre lot that includes two docks, a boat lift, a sandy beach area, a putting green and an infinity pool with a hot tub, ESPN reported. The house’s former owner, Dan Moore, made multimillion-dollar renovations to the home but left the fireplace untouched, Sports Illustrated reported. In the iconic film, Ricky Bobby, played by Will Ferrell, says grace in front of the fireplace, insisting on praying to the baby rather than the adult Jesus despite the comic protestations of his wife and father-in-law.
During his 23-year career, Harvick won the 2007 Daytona 500, three Brickyard 400 events, two Coca-Cola 600s and two Southern 500 titles, The Athletic reported.
Overall, Harvick, who ranks ninth on NASCAR’s all-time victory list, ended his career with 60 NASCAR victories while finishing in the top ten 444 times, according to CBS Sports.
