A mother-to-be went into labor just before take-off and gave birth aboard an airplane in Istanbul.

Footage from earlier this month shows passengers turning to look and cheer on the mother and paramedic crew amid the birth, according to the Daily Mail.

The mother went into unexpected labor as the Pegasus Airlines plane was making its final preparations for takeoff, per the outlet. The plane at Sabiha Gökçen International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey, was heading to Marseille, France.

Paramedics can be seen on video briskly walking through the aircraft to help the woman. One passenger can be seen collecting baby clothing from other passengers to give to the mother.

Moments later, a female paramedic can be seen carrying the newborn through the airplane aisle wrapped in a blue cloth. (RELATED: ‘Pushin’ My Seat!’: Video Of Heated Argument Sparks Debate Over Airplane Manners).

Cabin crew provided initial first aid to the woman, the Daily Mail reported, citing local reports. The woman was taken to another part of the aircraft, where medics helped her during the birthing process.

The baby was taken to a hospital by ambulance, per the outlet.

Numerous babies have been born on airplanes.

In February 2022, a woman gave birth to a baby boy on a flight from Ghana to the United States, according to NBC News. A Ghanaian doctor on board and a flight attendant who was a former nurse helped deliver the baby 34,000 feet above the Atlantic Ocean.

The baby was born two hours before the plane landed, per NBC. The mother and baby were met by paramedics in Dulles, Virginia.

“We were especially thrilled to see the plane land with one extra, especially beautiful, customer onboard,” United Airlines said in a statement, per the outlet.
