Vice President Kamala Harris showed off her gas stove on Thanksgiving day after the Biden administration touted a potential initiative to crackdown on the appliance.

Harris posted a photograph of herself and Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff standing next to a gas stove and their holiday food on social media. The vice president posed with her hand on her husband’s cheek as the two smiled.

“From our family to yours, happy Thanksgiving,” Harris wrote as a caption.

Social media users immediately called out Harris for her hypocrisy.

“Gas stoves for me but not for thee,” Libs of TikTok wrote as a caption to the post, which she placed beside a Daily Caller article reporting on the Biden administration’s opposition to the cooking equipment.

“I thought gas stoves were bad for the environment,” actor and producer Kevin Sorbo wrote.

“Is that a gas stove? 🧐” Republican Georgia Rep. Mike Collins inquired.

The Department of Energy (DOE) revealed a proposed rule in February that would establish new “energy conservation standards” for gas stoves and electric cooking equipment. The rule would apply to newly manufactured gas stoves, but it would not cap consumers’ usage of them, according to the rule.

Although the Biden administration maintained it is not attempting to ban gas stoves, the DOE’s $225 million spending to help state and local governments adopt building codes banning gas hookups could phase out the cooking equipment. White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre responded to concerns about a gas stove ban in July, emphasizing the proposed rule would “not take into effect until 2029.”
