We’re barely into 2024 and country music fans are already throwing a tantrum over performances by Blake Shelton and Morgan Wallen on New Year’s Eve.
Apparently, fans were annoyed that Morgan Wallen and Blake Shelton’s shows for “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash” were prerecorded, Whiskey Riff reported. The marketing for the event supposedly made it sound like Wallen and Shelton were going to be there, playing live, so fans were furious to find out this wasn’t the case.
Listening to acts like HARDY, Lainey Wilson, Thomas Rhett, Parker McCollum, Cody Johnson, Brothers Osborne, Jon Pardi, and a load of others wasn’t good enough for the folks who attended the show. They wanted Wallen and Shelton, and had a total tantrum when they realized the shows were pre-taped.

“Wait, why wasn’t it live? So weird,” one fan wrote, the outlet noted. Actually, the weirdest thing is that CBS have released almost every other performance from the night on YouTube except for Wallen’s.
But Wallen prerecorded the show back in October from a “secret location” near Tennessee Titans Stadium, and even did a countdown to midnight (which didn’t end up in the final show). Personally, I’d be extremely pissed off if I bought tickets to see a festival’s worth of country music stars, only to learn the biggest artist wasn’t even there (Wallen, not Shelton). But then again, I’d be pissed if I had to stand in a crowd of people and listen to music for hours on end. I’m too old for that, so maybe Wallen was too old to make it out on New Year’s Eve too?
Paramount/Viacom/CBS did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller’s questions over why Wallen’s performance hasn’t been released online.
