The United States of America has won the gold medal at the 2024 World Junior Hockey Championship after defeating Sweden in the final, 6-2, and doing so in their own nation as the game was played at the Scandinavium in Gothenburg. The gold medal is Team USA’s sixth overall and their first since 2021.

In the game against Sweden, the Americans were actually in a tough fight only holding a 3-2 advantage into the third period, however, that all changed as the United States steamrolled from there for a dominating victory. The Americans built up their lead to 5-2 after getting goals from Zeev Buium and Ryan Leonard, and that was raised up to 6-2 after captain Rutger McGroarty scored on an empty net.
Such glory … and yet another gold medal for the best country in the world! U-S-A! U-S-A! U-S-A!

I don’t know what it is about that red, white and blue winning a gold medal, but man, that feeling hits like straight up crack. (And I mean that in the most positive way imaginable to people who don’t understand that terminology.)
