Reformed Nigerian love scammer, who goes by the name Chris, spoke to the Daily Caller in February about his career. And what we learned will shock you.

Chris says he started his career as a love scammer in 2016, when he needed money for his second year of university. The cost of keeping up with his classmates seemed to be getting to him, and he just wanted to “afford expensive things too.”

Growing up in Nigeria, Chris always knew about scams. “There’s this manual that is passed on from other scammers and I got that and it’s really helpful,” he said, noting how he was a natural at the work. He mostly targeted older and single people, because most of them were divorced.

So, who were the people Chris managed to get on the hook? And what makes a person more likely to fall for a love scam?

“I have learnt that women [want] attention. [T[hat’s one of the most [common] reasons why they cheat. [T]hey are mostly attracted to someone that shares time with them,” he told us. “Loneliness and greediness” are also key factors. Most of his victims also had “a bad partner” or came from a rough background. (RELATED: OnlyFans Model Claims She Was Kicked Off Dating Apps For Being ‘Too Hot’)

What’s most shocking is that there are love scammers everywhere, even here in the U.S. With new methods of contacting people popping up online seemingly every day, folks are apparently getting scammed at a far higher frequency.

We also asked Chris whether he was scamming us right now. “Haha! Because I have been working [for] three years with Social Catfish (a company that helps verify identities online) and even people in my country hate me now, my face is everywhere. [If] I really didn’t want to do this I would not have shown my face at all, so now I’m fully reformed,” he says.

What has Chris learned about love over the course of his career? “Love is beautiful and deadly.”
