Multiple rounds of gunfire left at least one dead and up to 15 others injured at the Kansas City Chiefs victory parade Wednesday, police said.

The gunfire happened at the west side of Union Station and authorities rushed to the scene to treat the victims, the Kansas City Police said on Twitter. Between 10 and 15 victims are currently injured, with three in critical condition and five in serious condition, according to CNN.

Kansas City Chief Stacey Graves confirmed the shooting killed at least one person at a press conference Wednesday afternoon. The exact number of those injured is currently unknown.

Two armed suspects have since been taken into custody one was immediately pursued on foot, Graves said. She further said an estimated ten to fifteen shots were fired during the incident.

The University Health Truman Medical Center told CNN it has taken in several victims from the scene. Authorities and medical personnel carried at least one victim out of the building on a stretcher, footage by KSHB 41 News anchor McKenzie Nelson showed.

Children’s Mercy Hospital confirmed it has received patients from Union Station, according to CBS affiliate KCTV 5.

Footage showed Kanas City Chiefs fans scattering to leave the celebratory event following the gunfires. Police could be seen rushing inside the station as fearful parade attendees appeared shocked and prepared to exit the area.

More footage showed parade attendees sprinting away from the area immediately after the shots were fired. Panicked voices can be heard shouting “the garage,” indicating the gunshots were heard from there, according to footage posted by Fox 4 Kansas City Sports Director Rob Collins.

A witness said he heard “a ton of gunshots going off” inside the station in a “very short amount of time.”

Democratic Kansas Gov. Laura Kelly said she was one of the individuals evacuated from the station.
