Netflix dropped the trailer for “Testament: The Story of Moses” Wednesday and it looks like a super intense, poorly done version of something like “The Chosen” except with a focus on Moses.

The documentary explores the life of Moses, “from his exile as an outcast and murderer to eventual prophet and liberator,” Netflix wrote of the upcoming three-part series. Apparently Netflix and the team behind the series think they can teach us more about Moses and his life than the “conventional wisdom generated by history classrooms.” I don’t really know where to start with unpacking that claim, so I’ll leave you to decide how you feel for yourself.

“Anyone who has seen [‘The Ten Commandments’] as a child was well aware of the more epic elements of the tale,” the series’ producers told Netflix. “The burning bush, the plagues, Passover, the Red Sea, and, of course, the Ten Commandments. What really drew us in was the mystery of Moses’ inner life, his struggles with his own identity, his self-doubt, his humanness.”

Oh gosh, does this mean they’re going to wokeify Moses? Please, no.

Netflix went so far as to compare the series to that of “Queen Cleopatra” and “Alexander: The Making of a God,” both of which were so terrible you’d be forgiven for throwing your television out of the window while watching. Telling the story of Moses also kind of feels like a cheap shot at “The Chosen,” arguably one of the most successful television series in history, which shows the life of Jesus Christ during his time on Earth. Unlike “The Chosen,” which is very good, “Testament: The Story of Moses” looks like an intense piece of garbage, but that’s just my opinion.

You can check the series out on March 27, according to Netflix, unless you have literally anything better to do with your time.
