The battle to convince Americans which political party is more “normal” is not one that Republicans can easily win. No, it’s not because Democrats are normal by any stretch of the imagination; they’re not. It’s not even because the corporate media is determined to paint every broadly popular Republican position as outside the bounds of respectable opinion. It’s because the arrogant, self-appointed conservative arbiters of normalcy can’t resist pointing at their own side and going, “Hey! Look at the freaks!”
