Planes get delayed all the time, but you wouldn’t have thought that with fans’ freakouts (and the media at that).

If you’ve been paying attention to social media and sports blogs, you probably know that I’m talking about the UConn Huskies men’s basketball team and their problems with a flight delay. Well, I’ve got bad news for you people who love chaos: The Huskies ended up making it to Arizona for the Final Four. Yep, despite all that chaos.

When it was revealed Wednesday night that UConn was dealing with a flight delay, social media absolutely set itself on fire, freaking out about the possibility of the Huskies not making it to Glendale.

Well, this “conspiracy” (or whatever you wanna call it) was shut down quickly, just hours later as a matter of fact, as UConn ultimately made the trip and landed in Arizona shortly after 3:00 a.m. local time.

Sorry, doomsdayers. You were way off on this one.

Social media, fans, I expect freakouts from them … the press is what got me the most out of this situation.

When I was done with work, I was listening to a podcast about Diddy (yes, about all of that crazy ish), and I also happened to be looking through the sports blogs (unrelated to work) just to see what was happening late in the night — ahh, who am I kidding, I was scoping for stories to do the next morning as well. Anyways, this is when I came across the media’s freakout, and some of these headlines, man.

I don’t wanna call anybody out, because it may get me into trouble … but come on, guys … why are we making a big deal about a flight delay? (RELATED: Fox Sports Is Launching New College Basketball Tournament To Directly Compete Against The NIT)

And then I thought: That just shows you the level that UConn is at, the kind of media attention that they get is astounding, but this latest episode?

Huskies or not, this was dumb. Just plain dumb.
