Elizabeth Chambers, estranged wife of suspected cannibal, Armie Hammer, spoke out about her difficult divorce amid Hammer’s very public scandal.

Chambers said she learned about the alleged horrors at the same time the general public did. Chambers filed for divorce from Hammer in 2020 and reflected on her struggle during the premiere episode of “Grand Cayman: Secrets in Paradise.” The allegations against Hammer gripped the headlines, all while Chambers’ life was crumbling around her.

“You can write something for clickbait. You can write something for headlines. You can write something for sensation. But ultimately only I know the truth. I’m not fucking playing that game,” she said in the episode, according to People.

Several women came forward with allegations against Hammer, including rape, sexual assault, emotional and physical violence and cannibalism.

Chambers admitted she struggled to make sense of it all.

“I moved here with my husband and children three years ago,” she said in the first episode of the show.

“But things have changed since then.”

“The ‘Cayman Curse’ is when a couple moves to the island together and then they end up separating or divorcing – and it tracks,” she said.

Chambers discussed how the allegations impacted her life.

“I went through a very public divorce that was riddled with scandal. Stories were coming out each day and horrific articles, and I was learning about them as it happened,” she said.

“Our divorce is almost final, but it’s not easy.”

“The life that we had planned for years basically shattered. That was a really painful period of time,” she said on the show.

Chambers said having her divorce play out “on a more public platform” felt like “absolute hell” and expressed that she “wouldn’t wish it upon anyone.”

She admitted she faced serious scrutiny when Hammer’s abuse allegations surfaced and many looked to her to understand what he was really like behind closed doors. This took a toll on her and made matters more complicated as she progressed through her divorce. Chambers said she is trying to put her life back together again and is ready to move on.

“A lot of the trauma that I have experienced in the last two years is behind me,” Chambers said.

“And now I think I’m very much at a place where I’m ready for a fresh start on the island,” she said, according to People.
